Joseph Atkins

Joseph Atkins studied at Oxford and the Royal Academy of Music. His stage compositions include Scene Unseen, written with Jessica Walker, (Royal and Derngate / English Touring Opera), Carnation for a Song, She Ventures and He Wins (plus lyrics) and Sing Before You Speak Again (all Young Vic). TV credits include Mud, Sweat and Tractors and Shooting the War (BBC4). MD and arranger credits include the Olivier-nominated Josephine and I (Bush Theatre / Public Theater, New York) Miss Littlewood and Boundless as the Sea (Royal Shakespeare Company / Cunard Cruises) Liza Pulman Sings Streisand (West End and UK tour) and The Heart of It (Riverside Studios and The Other Palace, London), and Chasing Rainbows (Opéra de Rouen and Opéra Comique, Paris).

With Jessica, among his many credits are Not Such Quiet Girls (Opera North / Leeds Playhouse), All I Want is One Night (Manchester Royal Exchange), Cabaret Macabre (BYMT), Pat Kirkwood is Angry (across the UK) and appearances at the Lichfield, Presteigne and Machynlleth Festivals. He is also a Higher Education practitioner and composer for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
